Barack Obama creates low-energy America

**Written by Doug Powers The Republicans don’t trust the White House’s review of the Energy Department’s “green” loan program to get to the bottom of the Solyndra debacle? Hard to believe. USA Today : A House Energy and Commerce subcommittee investigating the collapse of Solyndra voted today to authorize the panel to subpoena the White House to produce internal correspondence on its dealings with the bankrupt solar panel manufacturer
A House panel is voting today on a resolution to subpoena thousands of White House documents related to the half-a-billion-dollar federal loan guarantee to the now-bankrupt solar company Solyndra. The House Energy…
**Written by Doug Powers Yesterday, the Jon Corzine-led MF Global, with approximately $2 billion in debt, filed for bankruptcy (CNBC hardest hit ). It seems that MF Global has some money that is currently unaccounted for.
This one’s a bargain at only $43 million.
**Written by Doug Powers The pessimist sees this as taxpayers being out $43 million, but the optimistic green bureaucrat will compare it to Solyndra and tout it as saving taxpayers $492 million. The latest DoE loan recipient to declare bankruptcy is Beacon Power Corp : A Massachusetts company that received a $43 million Energy Department loan guarantee last year filed for bankruptcy Sunday, a step certain to fuel criticism of federal green energy financing in the wake of the solar company Solyndra’s collapse. Beacon Power Corp., which develops energy storage systems, filed for bankruptcy protection in the U.S.
Environmentalists are up in arms and going to court to try to prevent the mowing of grass taking place around the future site of the Keystone XL Pipeline, an oil pipeline connecting Alberta, Canada with Gulf Coast refineries. The Center for Biological Diversity, Western Nebraska Resources Council and Friends of the Earth have filed a lawsuit making the charge that the mowing of grass along the proposed route is really the beginning of construction. “It’s outrageous that TransCanada is already clearing the way for the Keystone XL pipeline before the public has had a chance to have its say and, indeed, before federal agencies have even said it can be built,” said Noah Greenwald, endangered species program director at the Center for Biological Diversity
Two more shoes dropped in the Solyndra scandal today, but it remains to be seen their sound will stir the sleepy liberal lapdog media. Solyndra CEO Brian Harrison resigned last Friday, the Associated Press reported early this afternoon. Oh, and while the media of late have cheerleading the Democratic push for a new surtax on millionaires, don't expect the news media, particularly MSNBC, to note how a key Obama donor who pushed for the Solyndra loan has been delinquent on his evaded federal taxes for years
**Written by Doug Powers The Obama administration was preparing to toss another very expensive life preserver, but Solyndra had already forever slipped beneath the rolling, green waves. From the Washington Post : The Obama administration’s Department of Energy was poised last summer to give Solyndra a second major taxpayer loan of $469 million, even as the company’s financial situation was growing more dire. The Energy Department was actively pushing to provide the second loan guarantee to the troubled solar-panel manufacturer in April and May 2010, when Solyndra’s auditors warned the company was in danger of closing due to its rapidly mounting debts and expenses, according to complete e-mails just released by a House committee investigating the original loan
The astronomical costs of regulations–in dollars and jobs–are a plot that depends on the President’s reelection.
ERICA WERNER Associated Press LOS ANGELES (AP) — President Barack Obama is heading to Denver to pitch his jobs plan in the city where he accepted the Democratic nomination. But as he’s acknowledged at fundraisers up and down the West Coast, this election isn’t like 2008. Obama told a star-studded Hollywood fundraiser Monday night that this time around people are weary, and the energy of 2008 — when he was an exciting new face — is going to have to be generated…
There is only one issue this week in Washington -
The question arises: How effective are weasel words in fighting off weasel words? With its leader having proposed to expand our deflating economy by redistributing another $1.5 trillion from private-sector producers to public-sector gluttons, the Obama Left’s talking point du jour is: “We are just asking the rich to pay their fair share.” The point here is not to rehearse the illogic of that assertion
ABC and CBS on Friday skipped any coverage of a congressional investigation into Solyndra and the appearance of its two top executives to plead the Fifth. Only NBC's Today show provided an in-depth look at the now bankrupt green company and the loans given to it by the Obama administration. Today reporter Lisa Myers noted that taxpayers stand to lose up to half a billion dollars.
President Obama still hasn’t learned the classic First Rule of Holes: When you’re in one, stop digging. Up to his earlobes in failed stimulus grants and tainted federal loan guarantees, the shoveler-in-chief tunneled forward this week on his latest Government Loans to Nowhere bill. His willful ignorance is America’s abyss
The bankruptcy of solar energy company Solyndra is making national headlines and has put President Obama’s green jobs programs under the microscope. Click here to join the chat! We are joined by Heritage’s Energy and Environment Policy Analyst Nick Loris.
Journalism, they say, is a rough draft of history.

From The Heritage Foundation: Last week, The Washington Post pointed out one near-fatal flaw to Obama’s plans for subsidizing green energy and electric cars: snowstorms. On Wednesday a snowstorm hit D.C. commuters harder than usual, causing gridlock on the road and dragging a normally 20-minute commute into, in some cases, over six hours as people crowded the [...]
