Obama’s Seizure and Truman’s

On November 14, 2011, the Supreme Court agreed to review the constitutionality of President Obama’s health-care act. The central question is, What limits does the Constitution — specifically, the Commerce Clause — impose upon the federal government’s exercise of power? This health-care act is the defining legislation of the president’s term, and the issue of limited government is at the very heart of the debate between Obama and his opponents

Obama eligibility challenges spread to 6 states

An administrative law judge in Georgia could decide as early as this week whether voters in the state convinced him Barack Obama’s name should be removed from the 2012 presidential ballot because he is not qualified to hold the office. But win, lose or draw, the fight isn’t going to be over, as other cases are erupting across the nation, with challenges being raised anew even in Obama’s own adopted political network in Illinois. The Georgia hearing was before Judge Michael Malihi, and while none of the lawyers who appeared in the proceedings was willing to predict what the decision will be, several did confirm that Malihi had considered simply granting them a default victory, because Obama and his lawyers expressly stated they would not participate in a hearing to provide evidence that he is qualified to be on the ballot.

Obama double crosses American Catholics

At the end of Sunday mass at the church this writer attends in Washington, D.C., the pastor asked the congregation to remain for a few minutes. Then, on the instructions of Cardinal Archbishop Donald Wuerl, the pastor proceeded to read a letter. In the letter, the Church denounced the Obama administration for ordering all Catholic schools, hospitals and social services to provide, in their health insurance coverage for employees, free contraceptives, free sterilizations and free “morning-after” pills.

This Week in Washington – January 30, 2012

Cheers for Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) for standing up to President Obama on his unconstitutional recess appointments.

Free Birth Control vs. Freedom of Religion

When Pliny the Younger was a provincial governor in the Roman Empire, he wrote a letter to Emperor Trajan asking whether he should execute Christians who refused to burn incense in worship of the emperor. Pliny, in keeping with the customs of the empire, did not care about forcing Christians to believe that the emperor was a god.

Mother Jones, Media Matters Dodge on Lynching

There they go again. The American left, caught in the act of brandishing their electronic rope for yet another conservative black man, is busy dodging their long and horrendous history of racism

Boehner Keeps the Faith on Congress’ Constitutional Role

Two years ago, then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D–CA) shocked many Americans by dismissing a question about Obamacare’s constitutionality with the flippant retort: “Are you serious? Are you serious?” So much for the oath she swore to “support and defend” the Constitution

Ryan Schools Obama on America

At the Heritage Foundation last week, House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan demonstrated why he doesn’t need to be running for President to be framing the debate for 2012. He delivered there on October 26 a breathtakingly beautiful speech on Saving the American Idea, which defines the Spirit of 2012.

One Year Later, Obama Still Isn’t Listening

One of the largest landslide elections in the history of the United States took place one year ago today. Free-market Republicans, riding a wave of public anger at bailouts, stimulus, and big-government programs, swept into power, capturing 63 seats and control of the U.S.

Elena Kagan’s Old DOJ E-mails On Obamacare Kept ‘Private’

U.S. District Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle, a Clinton appointee, has ruled that the Justice Department does not need to release emails Solicitor General Elena Kagan sent from her DOJ email account to people in the White House—in which she discussed her recusal decisions as solicitor general—because the emails were “used for a purely personal objective.” CNSNews.com and Judicial Watch were seeking public release of the emails through lawsuits filed under the Freedom of Information Act. The “purely personal objective” cited by the judge was Kagan’s goal of being confirmed to the United States Supreme Court

Going North

AFTER THE STANDARD & POOR’S downgrade in early August, it didn’t take long for the blame game to begin. Predictably, the mainstream media blamed the Republicans.

Erika Johnsen: President Obama, Humiliating the United States One Apology at a Time

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United…

Obama’s Solyndra Complex

Asked by ABC’s George Stephanopoulos if he regretted his promotion of the bankrupt solar panel maker Solyndra, Barack Obama said, “No, I don’t.” This cavalier answer provides yet another snapshot of the arrogance and ideological fixation that drives his presidency.

The Book on Obama

WASHINGTON — Supposedly this White House has just made a furious attempt to sink a book, Confidence Men : Wall Street, Washington, and the Education of a President , by Ron Suskind, which came out September 20. Jay Carney, the White House spinmeister, spoke ill of it. Numerous former White House staffers spoke ill of it

Democracy’s New Discontents

Once upon a time, loud dissent, filibustering in the Senate, and gridlock in the House were as democratic as apple pie.

Truth in Budgeting

As Americans struggle to balance their checkbooks in the real world, lawmakers in Washington continue to apply postmodern accounting tricks to mask their out-of-control spending habits.

Dems vs. Dems on Medicaid

I’ve spilt many pixels writing about the constitutional challenges to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which are now nearly certain to end up in the just-commenced 2011–12 term of the Supreme Court.

Obama’s Terrorist Dilemma

I agree with the Obama administration’s decision to kill the American-born al-Qaeda recruiter Anwar al-Awlaki. What I can’t fathom is why the administration agrees with me.

Misleaders

(Michael Oberndorf) – As the Party of Marx, aka, the Democrat Party, ramps up its efforts to bypass the Constitution and impose totalitarian neo-fascism on America, I find it extremely disturbing that the Establishment Republicans appear to be blind, deaf, and dumb. In spite of massive evidence of what can easily be classified as high crimes and misdemeanors committed by Obama-Soetoro and his appointees and underlings, up to and including using crudely forged documents to establish Obama-Soetoro’s eligibility to be president, virtually no Republicans are seriously calling for investigations, much less special prosecutors, and impeachment…
