We couldn’t make this stuff up if we wanted to.

Yesterday NPR blogger Frank James saw a parallel between President Obama’s rally cry to a supporter to help him pass his “jobs bill” with Jesus’s charge to the apostle Peter to “feed my sheep” (h/t Michael Ganoe):

The realities of governing as opposed to the unrealities of presidential campaigns may have made President Obama a much more human figure compared with the almost messiah-like status he had in the eyes of many supporters in 2008.

But that doesn’t mean there still isn’t the occasional moment reminiscent of a Bible story.

At a rally on the campus of North Carolina State in Raleigh, N.C. Wednesday where President Obama went to drum up support for his jobs bill, this happened.

AUDIENCE MEMBER: I love you, Barack!

THE PRESIDENT: I love you back. (Applause.) But first — but if you love me — if you love me, you got to help me pass this bill. (Applause.) If you love me, you got to help me pass this bill.

Here’s John 21:15, the New International Version, describing a scene between Jesus and his disciples:

When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter,”Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”

“Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”

Jesus said, “Feed my lambs.”

But then again, I guess this isn’t all that surprising coming from the high priests of liberalism at NPR.

A statue of Barack Obama as a boy was placed late Sunday night at the Jakarta elementary school the U.S. president once attended, after its display in a public park prompted backlash in the Indonesia capital.

The re-placement of the bronze statue a week after it disappeared from public view was a low-key event officiated by the school’s principal and three local education officials. Scores of students had been among the 500 watching when Jakarta’s mayor unveiled the statue in the park in December.

The likeness of a 10-year-old Obama smiling at a butterfly perched on an outstretched thumb was returned to its pedestal at 11:30 p.m. local time.

The late night schedule was aimed at finishing before almost 500 students arrive for school Monday, not an attempt to keep a low profile, said the main fundraiser for the statue, American Ron Mullers. The statue’s removal from the park also was done on a Sunday night.

Detractors had argued an Indonesia hero should be honored instead. A Facebook campaign attracted more than 50,000 supporters of the statue’s removal, and court action was initiated to force it.

Mullers accused them of politicizing a statue meant to inspire Indonesian children to follow their dreams.

“This is a statue of boy named Little Barry who went to this school; it’s not President Obama,” Mullers said.

Opponents had mixed feelings about the statue’s new position at Menteng 1 Elementary School where it remains clearly visible from the street through a front gate.

Heru Nugroho, leader of the Facebook campaign to remove the statue, said he was “not happy,” but declined to comment further.

Another opponent involved in the court action, Yenni Rosa Damayanti, said she was satisfied that the statue was no longer in a public park.

“We should not erect statues of other countries’ presidents in public parks when so many of Indonesia’s heroes are not immortalized,” she said. She added that she didn’t mind the new location because the school had history with Obama.

Central Jakarta Education Office head Zainal Soleman, who looked on as laborers were placing the statue a second time, said the school welcomed it.

“It will inspire and motivate the children every day,” Soleman said.

Obama, whose American mother married an Indonesian after divorcing his Kenyan father, went to school in the capital from 1967 to 1971 and is regarded fondly by most Indonesians.

I called for the separation of O-cult and state.

To underscore my point, take a look at the featured photos of the day at the White House website, which spotlight the president’s visit to a Wisconsin public school to peddle his latest massive increase in federal education spending:

That’s at least four kids in the classroom donning their Obama agitprop t-shirts and one kid with Obama carved into his head.

Alinsky-inspired, National Education Association-approved: “Agitate + Aggravate + Educate + Organize.”

Oh, and what was it that Obama’s old Chicago pal Bill Ayers said? Yeah: Education is “the motor-force of revolution.”

Oh, spare me. Please:

There’s nothing more traditional in American politics than the wholesome family portrait: a beaming candidate, beaming spouse, reluctantly beaming teenagers.

But when Bill de Blasio, a candidate for public office in New York City this fall, put his family in his campaign mailings and TV ads, there was nothing routine about it. De Blasio’s wife of 15 years, Chirlane McCray, is black, his children are of mixed race and, even in one of America’s most liberal cities, no one could remember anything like it…

…With Barack Obama having rewritten the history of race relations in this country, de Blasio may be demolishing one of its last taboos, “For so long in American history, interracial couples went out of their way to keep their relationships out of the public eye that it’s remarkable to see them used in a campaign like this,” said Peggy Pascoe, a historian of interracial marriage at the University of Oregon, who referred to the campaign as “a post-Obama phenomenon.”

That’s a perception McCray said she shared. Obama, she said, “opened a door” and “made it easier for us to go there.”

Nowhere in the article is there even a mention of who over the last decades has made it difficult to “go there.”

No mention of how minority conservative women who marry outside their race are routinely attacked by liberals as traitors, sellouts, whores, ethnic trophy wives, and mail-order brides.

No mention of how Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas was excoriated by black liberals for being married to wife Virginia, who happens to be white.

No mention of how anti-government racial preference activist Ward Connerly was also attacked for marrying a white woman.

The fact that she is white has drawn criticism from some blacks who see the marriage as evidence that Clarence Thomas has rejected his roots…

…“If he is influenced by his wife, a white conservative who lobbied against comparable pay for women, he will be anti-women’s issues,” wrote USA Today columnist Barbara Reynolds in a July 5 piece. Reynolds, who is black, also is concerned by Thomas’s choice of a white wife.

“It may sound bigoted; well, this is a bigoted world and why can’t black people be allowed a little Archie Bunker mentality?” Reynolds said later. “Here’s a man who’s going to decide crucial issues for the country and he has already said no to blacks; he has already said if he can’t paint himself white he’ll think white and marry a white woman.”

Clarence Thomas advocates a colorblind society, and his marriage may well be an example of that philosophy. But others see a different symbolism.

“His marrying a white woman is a sign of his rejection of the black community,” said Russell Adams, chairman of Howard University’s department of Afro-American studies. “Great justices have had community roots that served as a basis for understanding the Constitution. Clarence’s lack of a sense of community makes his nomination troubling.”

And now, liberals want to give Barack Obama credit for breaking interracial marriage taboos?

What has Obama ever done — what has he ever said — to disavow the bigoted attacks by liberals against minority conservatives in public life who have endured vicious bile because they chose their partners based on the content of their character and not the color of their skin?

Nothing.

A newly publicized video shows leaders of a Chicago-based community organizing group called the Gamaliel Foundation held a rally shortly after President Obama’s election and “prayed” to him, seeking his intervention in their difficulties.

“Hear our Cry Obama. Deliver us Obama,” the organizers chanted as a single leader recited the organization’s perceived problems, based on the philosophies of Saul Alinsky, the radical father of community organizing.

The video has been posted on Breitbart.TV.

The video explains the event took place at a leadership conference just a few weeks after Obama’s election in November.

The “leaders” enter a room chanting, “Everybody in, nobody out,” apparently referring to health care.

Then the chanter leads: “We are here for the healing of the nation,” to which the crowd responds, “Yes.”

“With the prophet Jeremiah we cry out, ‘Is there no balm in Gilead?’” continues the chanter. “Is there no physician here. Why then has the health of thy poor people not been restored?”

The crowd responds: “Hear our cry Obama.”

The chanter references the “prophet Martin Luther King Jr.,” to which the crowd responds, “Here our cry Obama.”

The chanter then intones: “From health care systems and industries that place profit over people,” and the people respond, “Deliver us Obama.”

The chanter then references “lobbying efforts” and “freed and fear,” to which the crowd responds, “Deliver us Obama.”

Officials with the Gamaliel Foundation did not return a message left by WND requesting a comment.

But according to the organization’s website, its type of community organizing began in Chicago in 1938.

“Saul Alinsky created the ‘Back of the Yards Community Council,’” the site says. “The organization operated in the shadow of Chicago’s stock yards. The community was beset with poverty, political corruption, gangs, disease, deteriorating housing and inadequate schools; but most of all it was beset with a sense of powerlessness. The organization successfully engaged people to change the conditions of the community.”

The foundation says it was set up in 1968 to support “an African American organization fighting to protect homeowners on Chicago’s Westside who had been discriminated against by banks and saving and loan institutions.”

It was relaunched in 1986 “as an organizing institute.”

WND previously reported when an artist who planned to unveil a portrait of Obama in a Christ-like pose with a crown of thorns upon his brow canceled the event, due to “overwhelming public outrage.”

Others, such as Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, also have been clear in their nearly religious adoration of Obama. As WND reported, Farrakhan declared last year that when Obama talks, “the Messiah is absolutely speaking.”

Addressing a large crowd behind a podium with a Nation of Islam Saviour’s Day 2008 sign, Farrakhan proclaimed, “You are the instruments that God is going to use to bring about universal change, and that is why Barack has captured the youth. And he has involved young people in a political process that they didn’t care anything about. That’s a sign. When the Messiah speaks, the youth will hear, and the Messiah is absolutely speaking.”

Farrakhan pointed out that the man Nation of Islam followers refer to as “the Savior,” Fard Muhammad, had a black father and a white mother, just as Obama did.

“A black man with a white mother became a savior to us,” he said. “A black man with a white mother could turn out to be one who can lift America from her fall.”

WND also previously reported a website called “Is Barack Obama the Messiah?” capturing the wave of euphoria that followed the Democratic senator’s remarkable rise.

The site wass topped by an Obama quote strategically ripped from a Jan. 7 speech at Dartmouth College just before the New Hampshire Primary in which he told students, “… a light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany, and you will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote” for Obama.

Here’s a few that should leave you scratching your head.

Yet another Obama gaffe or a Freudian slip?

We need to consider our planetary citizenship, because solving the world’s ecological and economic problems, and creating a culture of peace and reconciliation will require the co-operation of all nations.

Perhaps you can use this symbol of Barack Obama to send him a prayer of support, to send all the loving hopeful healing and creative energy that we can focus on him so that he can perform the task of leadership in the most effective and powerful way for the greatest good, for the greatest number.”

The word “creepy” comes to mind. Where were all the hippies and free-lovers suggesting sending “loving hopeful healing and creative energy that we can focus on” President Bush so that he could perform effectively? If the libs were so concerned with Bush, maybe they should have tried this method instead of bashing and ridiculing him. And I am all for saying a prayer for a person (trust me, I’ve been praying for Obama that he might actually do what is in the country’s best interests) but I don’t like this guy’s wording of “sending him a prayer of support.” As a Christian, I send my prayers to God alone. I know what the guy’s point is, but still, it’s the little things like this that accumulate into a counter-culture mindset.

Here is a critique of the artwork from my wife, who is an artist:

The 3rd eye is indicative of enlightenment.  This is basically placing Obama as synonymous with the prophets and gurus of total peace and ‘completeness’ with the cosmic energies.  The ‘aura’ surrounding him is usually gold/ neutrals, which traditionally depict the levels of awareness that concentrically converge into the cosmic heavens. I interpret this as: Obama has conquered and overcome the outer regions of existence (aka United States, red white and blue with stars). His light shines outward, overpowering the outer regions in its glory.  He has achieved total enlightenment, we know this by the presence of the third eye, and the halo of celestial gold about his head, and is now a prophet of all that is good and true; we should emulate him in all ways, and follow his advice since he has achieved the upmost level of existence.  The ‘eye’  by the way, is the earth, which can symbolize universal truth in his thoughts and insight.  I believe the artist simply wanted to portray his Obama as a world leader and enlightened entity capable of showing us the ‘true path’, but I it still scares me in its subliminal implications.
