Obama Claims To “Give Nicer Gifts Than He Gets”
When asked about gift-giving during an interview last week with Oprah, Barack Obama stated, “I give nicer stuff than I get.”
Oh, really?
How about when British Prime Minister Gordon Brown visited Obama back in March? Brown brought him an ornate pen holder carved from the wood of the anti-slavery ship, the HMS Gannet, the sister ship of the HMS Resolute, whose wood was carved into the Resolute Desk which has sat in the Oval Office since 1880, as well as a first edition of the seven-volume biography of Winston Churchill by Sir Martin Gilbert.
Did Obama give a nicer gift than he got? His gift to the visually-impaired Prime Minister was 25 DVDs which were not even the correct region format to play on European DVD players.
How about when the Queen of England visited Obama and gave him a signed personal photograph of herself and her husband? Obama gave the 82-year-old Queen an iPod, of course. To make matters worse, she already had one at the advise of her son, Prince Andrew.
